The Chairman of Rásaíocht Con Éireann, Mr Phil Meaney, has welcomed the appointment by Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Mr Tom Hayes TD, of a number of appointments to the Board of Rásaíocht Con Éireann.
The Minister has appointed of two new Board members, Mr Frank Nyhan and Mr Pat Creed and has also reappointed Mr William O’Dwyer, Ms Riona Heffernan and Mr Matt Murphy.
Mr Meaney in welcoming the appointments, said “The appointments will ensure both a continuation of the knowledge base of the Board with the reappointment of Mr William O’ Dwyer, Mr Matt Murphy and Ms Riona Heffernan and will also introduce a new dynamic and perspective with the appointment of Mr Frank Nyhan and Mr Pat Creed. I look forward to working with the new Board in furthering the implementation of the Indecon report so as to develop a greyhound industry that is vibrant and sustainable into the future.”
The appointments are as follows;
Frank Nyhan is a new appointment to the Board. He is Principal in the firm of Frank Nyhan& Associates, Solicitors and is the State Solicitor for Cork City.
Pat Creed is also a new appointment to the Board. He is managing director of Bank of Ireland Finance and has extensive risk management experience.
William O’Dwyer is a re-appointment to the Board. He is an executive director of Thurles Greyhound Stadium and was previously joint secretary of Thurles Coursing Club for over 20 years.
Riona Heffernan is a re-appointment to the Board. She is a chartered accountant with over 10 years experience and is acting Group Head of Finance at C&C Group PLC.
Matt Murphy is a re-appointment to the Board. He was previously also Chairman of Limerick Greyhound Stadium.
