Indecon Report
Statement Issued by Rásaíocht Con Éireann

Rásaíocht Con Éireann welcomes the publication of the Indecon Report. The Report provides a thorough and independent review of the work of the Board over many years and of many aspects of the greyhound industry.
The Board will now consider in detail the content of the Report and its recommendations with a view to putting in place a comprehensive operational plan to address and deliver on all the matters raised. This plan will be submitted to the Minister within the three months as requested, and it will provide a clear and transparent timeline with milestones for its achievement, monitored by the Board and reported to the Minister.
The Board believes that the Report can make a very significant contribution to a re-energising and restructuring of the greyhound industry. It will help to develop an organisational culture which will deliver excellence across governance, finance, racing and compliance, and contribute to the improvement of animal welfare.
The Board hopes that the publication of the Report will be a defining moment for the industry and will facilitate closer working relationships with all stakeholders. The Board shares the confidence of the consultants that with the implementation of the Report‘s recommendations and the continued support of the Minister and Government, there is a positive future for the industry ahead.
