Welfare Officer – Midlands & North East - Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI)

    Location: Limerick (travel across Midlands & North East, company vehicle provided)
    Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
    Salary: Competitive

    Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI) is seeking a Welfare Officer to conduct inspections, ensure compliance with welfare regulations, and support rehoming initiatives across Midlands & North East.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Carry out welfare inspections at kennels and premises.
    • Respond to welfare concerns and educate owners/trainers on best practices.
    • Supporting rehoming initiatives and collaborating with welfare organisations.
    • Investigate welfare complaints and assist in compliance monitoring.
    • Collect samples for prohibited substance testing.
    • Maintain accurate reports and attend hearings if required.
    • Knowledge of Greyhound & Animal Welfare Legislation.
    • Experience in animal welfare/care (preferably greyhounds).
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
    • Third-level qualification an advantage
    • IT proficiency (Microsoft Office).
    • Full clean driving licence

    What You Need:

    • Knowledge of Greyhound & Animal Welfare Legislation.
    • Experience in animal welfare/care (preferably greyhounds).
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
    • Third-level qualification an advantage
    • IT proficiency (Microsoft Office).
