Following a very successful revival of the competition last year, the Kilcolgan Castle Connacht Derby returns to Galway Greyhound Stadium this February and March.
Kindly sponsored by Karen Geoghegan and Kilcolgan Castle, the competition boasts an impressive €9,000 winner's prize.

The racing office in Galway Greyhound Stadium are currently accepting entries to the 550 yard competition which is open to 36 A0/A1 greyhounds at €50.

Karen Geoghegan, the WGOBA and Galway Greyhound Stadium made a presentation for funds raised in raffle on the night of Kilcolgan Castle Connacht Derby to Brothers of Charity Services Ireland in Galway
Owner of Kilcolgan Castle, Karen Geoghegan, has signed a new sponsorship agreement which welcomes the return of the event to the Galway racing calendar.
Thank you to the new sponsor Karen Geoghegan Kilcolgan Castle who is kindly sponsoring this event. This event was a feature some years ago and it certainly is a major addition to the racing calendar for 2025.
Boasting a brilliant first prize of 9,000, Mark Maguire, Racing Manager at Galway Greyhound Stadium, welcomed the sponsorship announcement saying “We hope to attract a high quality entry with a fantastic €9,000 winner’s prize. We already have entries rolling in with plenty of people hoping to make the trip to Galway to be part of the competition.”
