The final of the Fast-Trap A5/A6 525 took centre stage at Galway Greyhound Stadium on Friday night, with Burkos Breeze turning the tables to land the €1,400 feature.
Owned by Amy Burke, Burkos Breeze had shown explosive early speed in the earlier rounds of the stake, landing her opening-round assignment before surrendering the lead late on in the semi-finals. She clearly took plenty from that defeat, however, as the pacey fawn never looked in trouble in the decider. Drawn in six, ‘Burkos’ didn’t break as fluently as usual but still showed far too much early pace for her rivals, leading comfortably at the opening bend. Holding a three-length advantage over Lallys Legacy into the back straight, the daughter of Grangeview Ten – Emmas Dream was in no mood to hang around and extended her lead throughout, crossing the line an emphatic six-length winner. Slipalong Dew came through to claim second, with Balrobuck Tom completing the podium in third. The time was 29.54 .10s.
BEBETO SCORES AGAIN
The supporting card featured the second-round heats of the Upcoming Sweepstakes ON2/ON3 350, with Noelles Bebeto setting the standard following an outstanding performance for Noelle and James Divilly.
The June son of Dromana Bucko had landed his debut assignment in a brisk 19.31 (.5s), but went even faster on this occasion. Drawn in six, the 5/4 chance was headed by Annadown Harvey in the early yards before asserting once fully into stride. Sweeping to the front, ‘Bebeto’ powered up the home straight to score by three lengths from Annadown Harvey in second, stopping the clock in a fast 19.24 .5s.
In the remaining heats, Grangeview Tina (Grangeview Ten – Grangeview Nifty) landed the opener, holding off a strong late challenge from Headford Evie. Michael Hogan’s 3/1 chance crossed the line a half-length clear in 19.57 .5s. The concluding heat went the way of Patch It Up (5/4), who took control on the run-up before sealing a maiden victory for Michael James Corrigan. The time was 19.41 .5s.
