With the announcement of the dates for the BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby coming last week, it is perhaps the right time for those interesting in journeying to HQ for the showpiece to consider booking accommodation sooner rather than later.
The Derby is set to commence on Friday, August 7th with the opening round concluding the following evening on Saturday, August 8th. That means the final will take place back in the more traditional slot of the second weekend in September, or more precisely Saturday, September 12th.
It was not long into this year that we highlighted the fact that the NFL game was going to be announced for the same weekend as the 2025 Derby decider. It resulted in greatly inflated hotel room rates. Unfortunately, many didn’t heed our advice and were caught when they did eventually go to book a room for the weekend.
Now is the time to get ahead of the crowd. As we speak, only Westlife on their Anniversary World Tour are moving the needle with shows in the 3Arena on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Most of those journeying to those shows won’t require accommodation but Dublin is always hugely busy around the same period.
My advice for those coming to Dublin that weekend, especially those from the UK, is to make their bookings as soon as possible.
