Shelbourne Park have been attempting to put on more staying races on their cards but there is certainly a shortage of six bend greyhounds around.
That doesn’t mean there can’t be more. Shelbourne Park are looking for runners for Novice 750s.
The more they can run, the better the opportunity to put on more graded races over the extended trip. There will be instances where the Novice 750 races are a bit lobsided but they do offer the chance to find a winnable grade over the 750yd trip in the future.
So, whether you have an open racer or a grader from A1 down to A8, why not enter your greyhound for a 750 if you believe they might see out the extended distance. Staying racing needs to return to its former glory and the opportunity is there to make it happen.
There is currently an open Novice 750 advertised at Shelbourne Park boasting a winner’s purse of €500, while entries are invited for all levels. If you have a potential stayer, don’t hesitate to contact the racing office.
