WINX TAKES FRIDAY’S FEATURE AT SHELBOURNE

WINX TAKES FRIDAY’S FEATURE AT SHELBOURNE

Ian Fortune

Friday’s feature at Shelbourne Park, the final of the RCETS A3 525, saw Ballymac Winx come home in front for Liam Dowling, although she did have to dig deep to contain the late charge of Turbo Tucker.

Ballymac Winx (Ballymac Kingdom/ Ballymac Meena) slipped onto the fence to take charge at the bend before building a clear advantage. Turbo Tucker emerged from the pack and stayed on really well but Ballymac Winx held on by a neck in 29.01.

IN-FORM BAFTA IMPRESSES IN A2

There were some fine displays in a couple of sweepstakes on the undercard including a 28.66 return for the in-form Swift Bafta in the Barking Buzz App A2 525.

William White’s charge led early in the opening semi-final and proceeded to beat Rivervale Buzz by five lengths.

The second heat saw Silver Man winning in similar style for Peter Cronin and Aiden Comerford. The well bred son of Droopy Jet and Palermo is clearly progressive and he led early before holding As I Was by a half length in 28.79.

NESTOR AND ANGEL OBLIGE

Gortkelly Nestor and Ruffian Angel were the winners in the semi-finals of the A2 Dual Distance.

The former was always prominent behind Moyola Seamrog before coming through in the latter stages for a length and a half verdict in 30.19, while Ruffian Angel forced her way to the front at the turn before going on to bat All About Magic by a length and a half in 30.35.

WHAT A RUN FROM GRANDAD

The undoubted performance of the night came earlier on the card, however, as Liam Walsh’s Angry Grandad posted a rapid 28.31 in the A3 fifth race.

The Peter Cronin trained son of Ballymac Best and Angry Lauren was in a different league to hi rivals as he dominated from the start before racing further and further clear to beat Typical Bono by nine and a half lengths. Keep an eye on the winner in the coming weeks.
