READY TO RACE CLONMEL SALE PROVES VERY POPULAR

Peter Farrell

Last Friday, 15th December, saw Clonmel Greyhound Stadium host a successful Greyhound Sale which was restricted to Unraced pups.

On the day, the sale consisted of 60 lots and a huge crowd descended onto the Suirside venue for the trials, which were two-dog affairs for the first time in Ireland. This venture proved successful on the day as this allowed trouble-free passages for all pups and allowed them to express their capabilities in full.

The quality of the pups on the day was second to none and no fewer than eight of the trials were won in clocks of under 29-seconds, the fastest of which was Roseville Wild (July 22’), who recorded a rapid 28.74 .10s. Incidentally, the son of Ballymac Wild was making a massive €8,000 on the bench, however, he was subsequently withdrawn with the intention to run in the upcoming Rural Hawaii Unraced in January.

Of those that were sold, the top price came for Ballymac Malibu (28.92 .10s) and he was sold for €7,000.

Other notable sales are listed below:

Explosive Queen – May 22’ – 28.97 .10s – €6,000

Mustang Chanel – Sept 22’ – 29.07 .10s – €5,500

Hold It Harry – Aug 22’ – 29.14 .10s – €5,100

Coast Road – Mar 22’ – 28.96 .10s – €4,500

In total, 35 of the 60 lots were sold for a total of €63,000, which is a fine average of around €1800.

The sale was deemed as a huge success for everyone connected to Clonmel Greyhound Stadium.
