SILKS AUCTION DETAILS AND A NEW GO FUND ME SET UP FOR DARLENE

SILKS AUCTION DETAILS AND A NEW GO FUND ME SET UP FOR DARLENE

Ian Fortune

Last week we brought you news of a set of silks being auctioned at Shelbourne Park this Saturday on Boylesports Champion Stakes final night for a very worthwhile cause.

Vinny Grennan has organized a set of signed silks in the colours of Champion Hurdle winner and the queen of national hunt racing Honeysuckle and the reigning Gold Cup champion A Plus Tard to be go under the hammer. Both silks have been signed by Henry De Bromhead and Rachel Blackmore and the two equine champion’s respective grooms, John Ferguson and Coleman Comerford.

New mother Darlene Lynch was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called choriocarcinoma just seven weeks after the birth of her first child. She continues to receive treatment and all monies raised by the sales of the silks will go towards Darlene’s medical care.

Over the years, greyhound folk have time and again demonstrated their wonderful generosity and it’s time to do so once again. You can obviously bid on the night but anyone that can’t be present can make a bid with the event organizer and the man who sourced the silks, Vinny Grennan. Vinny can be contacted at 086 8766040.

Since we wrote the original story, Vinny has set up a Go Fund Me page for those that won’t be bidding for the silks. If you can afford to give a little something, however small, please don’t hesitate to click on the link below. Vinny has set an initial target of €2,500 but it would be wonderful to see this figure surpassed in the coming days.
