The Boylesports A3 Bitch 525 got underway at Kilkenny on Friday evening and Black Summer stole the headlines with a brilliant opening round effort, scoring in a rapid 28.86.

Sean Leahy and Thomas Norton’s daughter of Laughil Bolt and An Cailin Alainn flashed from traps, clocking a sizzling 4.23 sectional, in Heat 5 before pulling further and further clear to run out a ready four and a half length winner over Effernogue Cloe.  

DIVA BREAKS 29

To highlight the strength of the run, Knockdrinna Diva was the only other heat winner to break 29 seconds as she too dominated to emerge a wide margin winner of Heat 2.

Keelan O’Donoghue’s daughter of Ballymac Eske and Knockdrinna Miss raced right away to win by seven lengths from Milestone Queen in 28.98.

FLYING ANGEL PREVAILS

Ruffian Angel predictably improved on previous form to win Heat 3 for Cheryl Sutcliffe.

The daughter of Laughil Blake and Love Honey broke fastest to dictate from the early yards and she stayed on to contain the persistent Beautyquickstep by a length in 29.06.

DANCE WALTZES HOME

Ballymac Dance claimed the opening heat for Declan Byrne and the I Can’t Believe It Syndicate.

The daughter of Ballymac Bolger and Droopys Casey was third for much of the journey before making her move at the final turn for a three parts of a length victory over the long-time leader Kerryroad May in 29.31.

NO LIBERTY WITH MISS

The lightly raced Liberty Miss doubled her career tally in Heat 4, leading at the third turn to emerge a good winner for Denis Lennon.

The daughter of Good News and Luminous Fancy eased on from the third turn to win by three and a half lengths in 29.25.

ANGEL COMPLETES A BYRNE DOUBLE

The final heat of the round saw Declan Byrne complete a double with Fleeting Angel coming home in front.

Owned by the Dream Catchers Syndicate, the daughter of Droopys Jet and Bewitching led the field into the back straight and she went on to see off Avongate Enya by a length in 29.29.
