COMPETITIVE KILLEE ACTION AT CLONMEL AS MISMEACH SETS THE STANDARD

The Killee Town novice unraced always proves a hugely competitive stake at Clonmel and last night’s action was no different as each of the three heats of offer dipped under the 29-second barrier.

The quickest of the three heats of offer came in the opener as Misneach raced to a facile victory. Only a November 21’ whelp, the Tom O’Neill-trained runner boasted an unblemished record prior to his debut and made his intentions felt early doors as he built on a decent break, showing fine early dash to take control. Holding a two length lead down the back, the son of Dorotas Wildcat and Superchin, jointly owned by Noel Clark and David Finn, stayed on well thereafter as he crossed the line with five lengths to spare over Move Over Ogie, who also caught the eye with a fast finish, in second. The time was 28.90 .10s.

IN OTHER HEATS

Heat two saw Cooneen Mazl make light work of her opposition for Joseph O’Donnell. Another November whelp, she came into her debut with a respectable 29.60 qualifying effort around Kilkenny and she was to dominate from the outset in this contest. Running from trap one, the daughter of Skywalker Logan and Cooneen Izzy got bumped in the early yards but quickly manufactured a ten length lead into the back as trouble ensued at the opener. All one-way traffic thereafter, Cooneen Mazl raced to a comprehensive seven length win over Marlfield Sonic in second. The time was 28.98 .10s.

The final heat of the night saw Painters Best take charge late on to score impressively. Trained by Adam Dunford for the O’Mahony-Four-Syndicate, this bitch is actually an April 20’ whelp and she looked the one to beat given she had an impressive 16.42 trial to her name, albeit back in October last year. Running from trap two, the daughter of Ballymac Best and Granard Storm was forced to play second fiddle early on as Carneys Bolger set the standard in front. Still in charge at the midway point, it was here that Painters Best started to build some momentum. Upping the ante between the bottom two bends, Painters Best held the inside line and stayed on strongly to cross the line three lengths clear of Carneys Bolger in second. The time was 29.09 .10s.

ELSEWHERE

Race five saw a nice victory for the March 22’ whelp, Boleys Legacy. Trained by Paraic Campion for Sean Mulligan, the daughter of Good News and Boleys Ace was searching for a maiden victory and she implemented in trap-to-line fashion. Fast away from trap one, Boleys Legacy always had the measure of Emers Fireman as she came home one and a half lengths too strong, in a time of 29.17 .10s.

The quickest over the standard trip was Hack Up Crystal in race six. Owned by Frank Tynan, the daughter of King Sheeran and Fiftyshadesnifty showed fine early acceleration to lead around the opener in the white jacket. From here, it was a straightforward assignment for Hack Up Crystal as she raced to a four and a half lengths success over Purple Coco in second. The time was 16.44.

Chasing Man landed race seven for owner Sean O’Halloran. A member of a smart litter, the son of Malachi and Absolutely Ace came away best of all from trap five to just make the turn in front of Emers Chip in second. The latter went toe-to-toe with the leader down the back and looked set to take control entering the penultimate turn. However, the outside line proved decisive at this point as Chasing Man once again took charge and he raced to a two length success thereafter. The time was 29.13 .10s.

The final race on the card saw Springfield Oreo record a veteran success for Matthew Cummins. A July 18’ whelp, Springfield Oreo was second best early on as Heathview Lynda set the standard in front. Little to separate the duo down the back, they were still neck and neck around the bottom two bends. However, the daughter of Coolavanny Jap and Little Satin showed fine determination in the closing yards as she stayed on well to land a fourth career win. The time was 29.14 .10s.
