BEN AGAIN FASTEST IN JULY UNRACED

Ian Fortune

Betgoodwin Ben made it two wins from two in the July Open Unraced at Enniscorthy on Monday night, overcoming some early traffic to score in a rapid 28.82.

The other heat was won in 29.14 by Bushpark Isla.

BEN TOO HOT TO HANDLE

Betgoodwin Ben was second into the turn behind the fast-starting Tassie Ted but was forced to check wide at the turn when he had the door closed on him.

The son of Grangeview Ten and Global Glengar momentarily went back to third but found himself in front early in the back straight after Tassie Ted and Fairly Light clashed.

The Pat Buckley trained Betgoodwin Ben didn’t need a second invitation. Once gong to the front, he quickly opened a clear advantage before going on to beat Tassie Ted by seven and a half lengths in 28.82.

ISLA ON POINT

After finishing a long way behind Betgoodwin Ben last week, Bushpark Isla stepped up on her opening round form to win the opening heat for Eoghain Whelan.

The daughter of Ballyhimikin Jet and Please Cabela was second into the back straight behind Esmonde Salah but joined and headed her rival between the last two bends. From there she stayed on to beat the staying on Bollinabola Zara by three parts of a length in 29.14.
