DREAM BACK TO DEFEND CESAREWITCH CROWN

DREAM BACK TO DEFEND CESAREWITCH CROWN

Ian Fortune

Sunday marks the start of the TIME Greyhound Nutrition Irish Cesarewitch with a very different format to previous years.

There will be six heats with just the winner to qualify for the final a week later. Of course, that will make for a much more contracted classic but also means that for little over a minute’s work, one of the thirty-six-strong entry will earn their connections an impressive €10,000.

DREAM READY FOR BATTLE

Bobsleigh Dream is clearly one of the favourites for said prize after capturing last year’s Cesarewitch in tremendous fashion.

The Pat Buckley trained star found the 525yd trip a little on the sharp side in the recent Droopys Stud Champion Bitch Stake at Waterford but did show enough pace in defeat to suggest she will relish the return to Mullingar and the 600yd trip.

She is drawn in the penultimate semi-final and won’t have things her all own way with some notable rivals in opposition including the hugely fast Fashion Model, Derby Plate runner-up Neon Lights and the powerful Faypoint David amongst others.

BUCKLEY EYEING ANOTHER TITLE

Pat Buckley clearly has his sights set on a fourth Cesarewitch title as, aside from Bobsleigh Dream, he also sends out the very talented trio of Ballinabola Una, Glengar Martha and Singalong Dolly.

The first named is a leading fancy in the opening heat where the main threat comes in the form of recent impressive Shelbourne Park scorer and former Grade 1 winner in the UK, Droopys Fidget.

The clash of kennel companions Glengar Martha and Puppy Oaks and Champion Bitch Stake winner Singalong Dolly is perhaps the most anticipated of the round in the final heat.

Others of note amongst the entry include former Puppy Oaks winner Lets Go Bubbles, Fire Time, Droopys Have It and Borna Flame. The full draw and form can be found in upcoming cards or by clicking the link HERE.
