While Gizmo Cash was creating history at Shelbourne Park, Jamie McGee was also sending out impressive winners at Newbridge with Hawkfield Breeze setting the standard for the second week running in the second round of the Friends of Newbridge A1 Derby.

Breaking fastest from trap five in the opening heat, Jerry Connors’ daughter of Droopys Jet and Brownstown Tango was always in complete control before coming home seven and a half lengths clear of the fast-finishing Catunda Cleo in 29.81. Jirano Supreme recovered from a slow start to finish a length and a half further adrift in third.

A WILDE EFFORT

Toolmaker Wilde came out on top in Heat 2 for Robert Gleeson and Willie Hyslop.

Second for much of the journey, the son of Droopys Jet and Kilara Lizzie reeled in the pace-setting Beepers Cian in the closing stages for a length and a half verdict in 30.03. Paradise Moldova was third, a further two lengths adrift.

DEC DASHES CLEAR

Early speed and an ideal draw on the fence allowed Grangeview Dec emerge a good winner of the final heat for Michael Hogan.

The son of Superior Product and Portumna West didn’t make a fast start but he flew up the fence to assert on the bend. From there he eased on to see of Bee In Court by four and a half lengths in 30.16. Burrow Erris was just a short head away in third.
