REBEL OCEAN STANDOUT PERFORMER IN CURRAHEEN PARK

Barry Drake

Rebel Ocean, trained by Kieran Lynch for owner Vincent O'Keeffe, was the star performer in Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

The October puppy made it eight wins from just 15 career outings. Winning the all-important early lead, the 2-1 second favourite recorded a stunning 28.41, beating a couple of real good sorts. Faypoint Susie was alongside at the opening bend, but Rebell Ocean was far too strong and he ran out a three and a half length winner.

HIGH CLASS PERFORMANCE

Clonmore Alice delivered a high class performance in the fifth, an A1, winning for Breda and Cian Moloney.

The 4-5 favourite was always in the mix up front and the classy performer pulled away late on, clocking 28.58 and proving four lengths too good for Galloping Image.

IN OTHER RACES

In the sixth, the opening semi final of the Davy O'Brien Memorial, it was Millridge Zara who landed the spoils for Donal O'Mahony. The 6-4 second choice of the punters kept on well in the closing stages to win, in 30.08, a length and a half clear of Riverside Bocko. (550).

In the second semi final, in-form Coosey Hall completed three straight wins for trainer James Kelleher and owners the Castlegrounds-Syndicate. The 4-6 favourite hit the front early, showing plenty of speed up front, he beat Mother Jones, by four and a half lengths, in 30.09. (550).

Trained by Graham Holland for David Firmagner, Romeo Hotshot made the most of the drop in class to win race eight. Near last early, the even-money favourite displayed massive speed to run down Coill Bhui Wow in the final stride. A 28.73 winning effort from the 6-4 favourite, a short head clear of the long-time leader.
