NICKY HEALY

It’s with real sadness we must report the passing of Nicky Healy, a great friend of the sport and one of the best-known faces at Kilkenny track, where he was a director for many years.

A talented man with a greyhound, he was responsible for the ‘Kilmacar’prefix and handled many fast dogs through the years.

He also passed on his passion for the sport to his children and grandchildren. His daughter, Deirdre, is married to Murt Leahy and they run the hugely successful Village Kennels, while she is also one of the driving forces behind the IGOBF.

Nicky was a true lover of greyhound racing and his absence will be a great loss to Kilkenny track in particular. Those that knew him will miss him dearly and we would likely to take this opportunity to send on our sincerest condolences to his daughters Marguerite and Deirdre, his beloved grandchildren Barry, Conor, Emma, Katelyn, Chloe and Eve, his great grandchildren Lily and Oisin, his brother Ned, sisters Mary, Peggy and Rose, his sons-in-law Micky and Murt, brother-in-law Sean, his extended family and many friends.

Nicholas (Nicky) Healy, 11 November 2024, Kilmacar, Conahy, Co. Kilkenny.

Peacefully at the Residence of his daughter Deirdre, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Nora, sister Catherine (Sr. Immaculata), and brother Jerry. Nicky will be sadly missed, loved and remembered by his daughters Marguerite and Deirdre, his adoring grandchildren Barry, Connor, Emma, Katelyn, Chloe, and Eve, his great-grandchildren Lily and Oisin, brother Ned (Canada), Mary Murphy (Carlow), Peggy Hennessy (Urlingford), Rose Walsh (Kilkenny), sons-in-law Micky and Murty, brother-in-law Sean, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

MAY NICKY REST IN PEACE

Reposing at Coady's Funeral Home, Castlecomer on Tuesday (12th November) from 4pm, concluding with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 8.30pm.

Removal on Wednesday to St. Colman's Church, Conahy for Requiem Mass at 12 Noon (via his residence), and laid to rest thereafter in the adjoining cemetery.
