We got word in recent days that Fleadh Saraide, who was last seen dead-heating the Sporting Press Irish Oaks in June, has become a mum.
Her lucky owner Alan Quinn was delighted to report that she had a litter of eight, consisting of four dogs and four bitches.
The Oaks champion is still with Murt and Deridre Leahy at their Village Kennels outfit and has been a doting mother to her pups (Pic right:). It comes as no surprise that a few of the pups are already accounted for with a good friend of Alan Quinn, Noel Byrne, keen to get his hands on a couple.
That perhaps comes as no surprise as they are by Byrne’s stud dog Jacktavern Gem, who looked a rare prospect on debut at Kilkenny only to suffer a career ending injury. We wish everyone involved the very best of luck with the pups in the future. Given their dam’s exceptional early speed and the rare ability of their sure, there’s every chance they could develop into top class racers. Who knows there could be a 2026 Oaks winner amongst them?
