ANOTHER FUTURE STAR FOR TEAM HOLLAND

ANOTHER FUTURE STAR FOR TEAM HOLLAND

Peter Farrell

Graham Holland often bloods his young talent at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium and Brideside Harvey would appear to be the latest after he produced a stunning debut at the Suirside venue on Friday night.

Just a March 22’ whelp, Brideside Harvey came into his Novice contest with two very nice qualifying marks in his book but he was to improve substantially on his first career start for joint owners, Timmy Holland and Sheena Murphy. Running from trap six, Brideside Harvey broke well in the stripes and showed fine early dash to narrowly lead from Burgess Major in second. Three lengths in it down the back, it was approaching the penultimate turn where the son of Droopys Sydney and Roaming Shari really began to assert. Posting a rapid 16.08 sectional to the third bend, Brideside Harvey upped the ante around the bottom two bends as he drew clear of Burgess Major to win by an extending nine and a half lengths. The time for this brilliant youngster was a terrific 28.39. Incidentally, Faypoint Sean, who is a full brother to Brideside Harvey, also recorded a win on debut at Cork last night, posting a fast 28.74 in the process.

IN OTHER RACES

It was a case of lucky number eleven for Coologue Noah in an S5/S8 300 contest in race three as David Byrne’s charge made light work of his opposition. Running from trap five, the son of Droopys Noah and Coologue Heart broke well from trap five and was to outpace his rival, Circus Prince, early on. Running a fine opening bend, ‘Noah’ extended his lead on the run for home to win by an impressive four and a half lengths. The time was a good 16.47.

Donegal Maxi was another impressive winner on the night as she landed race four, an ON2/ON3 525. Owned by Sean Moloney and Matthew Cummins, the daughter of Sonic and Ballymac Maxi was never under any threat from her rivals as the April 22’ whelp broke smartly to lead from two. Setting a fine gallop down the back, ‘Maxi’ stayed on stoutly to record a four length win over Pomba Pete in second. The time was 28.90.
