PAUDIE RYAN

It’s with sadness we must report the passing of Paudie Ryan, a man with a rich history in greyhound racing.

A hugely successful owner during his time in greyhound racing, he owned such stars as Clashaphuca, who captured the 1997 Produce Stakes. He also owned Lee Strand winners, Mustang Okee (2004) and Golfing Star (1998), while he reached a 2000 Derby final with Golfing Lad.

The golfing prefix came from the fact that in his early years, Paudie was a golfer of some renown. A popular figure with a great many friends in greyhound racing, he will be sadly missed.

We would like to take this opportunity to send on our sincerest condolences to his wife Kathleen, his stepchildren Aileen, Trina and Michael, his beloved grandchildren Emma, Aoibheann, Ella, Ciarán, Aoife, Tiernan, Bronagh and Maeve, his sisters Breda, Mary and Therese, brother Diarmuid, extended family and many friends.

Funeral details

Padraig (Paudie) Ryan of Nagle House, Caherslee and formerly of St. John’s Park, Tralee, Co. Kerry, died peacefully after a short illness, on

11th September 2023, beloved husband of Kathleen and stepfather of Aileen, Trina and Michael. Sadly missed by his loving family, grandchildren Emma, Aoibheann, Ella, Ciarán, Aoife, Tiernan, Bronagh and Maeve, sisters Breda, Mary and Therese, brother Diarmuid, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at the Gleasure Funeral Home, Tralee on Wednesday (13th September) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. 

Funeral arriving to Our Lady & St. Brendan’s Church, Tralee on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. where the Requiem Mass for Paudie will be celebrated at 1:30

p.m. (streamed on www.stbrendansparishtralee.net). Interment afterwards in Rath Cemetery, Tralee.
