The first Wednesday of every month consistently produces some promising youngsters at Youghal Greyhound Track, and we have a couple to watch out for going forward.
However, it was the performance in a trial after racing that had everyone talking.
Barnfield Titan (Deertjet Sydney-Nice Mystery) delivered a performance of the very highest order when flying around the Youghal circuit in a magnificent 29.19.
The well-bred July puppy displayed sensational early speed, clocking early sectionals of 4.07 and 15.73, and in the end, the exciting youngster crossed the line in 29.19, 20 lengths clear.
It's not often we see youngsters clock times like this in qualifying around the seaside venue, and there's no doubt he is one to watch going forward. A son of Nice Mystery, he's related to some very classy sorts that include Unanimous Leo and Ower Mystery, to name a few.
We are looking forward to his racing debut, and given his age, big things are expected.
