This evening’s card at Derry has been postponed out of respect for Angela McLaughlin, who passed away over the weekend.
Sister to racing manager Michael, Angela was a much-loved figure at the Brandywell and was known be all as she ran the café at the track until recently when was forced to retire due to ill-health.
She will be remembered fondly and greatly missed by all that knew her. We would likely to take the opportunity to pass on our sincerest condolences to her children Charlene, Eugene, Sean, Aoife, Caitlin and Rhys, her siblings Michael, Marian, Eileen, Jeanette, Carmel, Danny, John, Cathy, Denis and Brian, her beloved grandchildren, extended family and many friends.

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Angela McLaughlin, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on 14th February 2026.
Late of 39 Ballymagowan Avenue and formerly of 5 Rathlin Gardens. May she rest in peace.
Beloved mother of Charlene, Eugene, Sean, Aoife, Caitlin and Rhys. Dearest mother-in-law of Daniel, Dearbhaila, Kerry, Brendan and Carrie. Loving granny of Chantelle, Ryan, Kacie, Kyle, Rian, Clodagh, Aoibheann, Beau and Dara. A much loved sister of Michael, Marian, Eileen, Jeanette, Carmel, Danny, John, Cathy, Denis, Brian and the late Collette. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of her nieces, nephews, wider family circle and much loved friends.
Angela’s remains will be reposing at her late home, 39 Ballymagowan Avenue from 3:30pm tomorrow afternoon, Sunday 15th February. Funeral leaving from there on Tuesday 17th February at 9:15am for 10am Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Creggan. A cremation service will take place afterwards at 3:30pm in Lakeland’s Crematorium, Co. Cavan.
The wake house will be private from 10pm until 11am.
