FORTY BUCKS THE MOSMAN TREND

FORTY BUCKS THE MOSMAN TREND

Victoria trainer Jason Thompson enjoyed a terrific 1-2 in Saturday’s Peter Mosman Classic final at Wentworth Park with victory going to Buck Forty from kennel companion Invictus Rapid in the very last strides.

Buck Forty was only fifth on the run up but the two runner got a delightful break on the bend and slipped through into second on the corner. Meanwhile Invictus Rapid had been fast away from trap four and he was four lengths in front as they hit the back straight.

Along the back Buck Forty began to gradually get closer but he was on the leader’s quarters around the bottom bend.

The two Thompson runners had a great battle up the straight as Invictus Rapid dug deep but Buck Forty nailed him in the final strides to win by half a length in 29.83. The favourite Ritza Lenny finished third.

It was the biggest victory of his career for Buck Forty whose previous best was in the Group 2 Launching Pad at Sandown. The winner is a son of Buck Fever and Fancy Jaffa.
