A glance through the results from Wednesday’s SIS morning meeting at Kilkenny will highlight the fact that the finale went to Nomadic Bolt.
Last into the opening turn, he came home strongly to get up in the closing yards to win in 30.07.
Of course, there is nothing unusual about that but the fact that he is well into his seventh year is notable. An August 2019 son of Laughil Bolt and An Cailin Alainn, it’s wonderful to see him running with such enthusiasm.
It may have been his first success since turning six years of age, but given the manner in which he scored, you would imagine another win will come his way in the near future. A huge congratulations to his lucky owners, the Jim McGuinness led Five Mc Syndicate.
To highlight how long he is on the go, his debut came at Clonmel back in May 2021. Leading early, he scored in an ON3 contest in 29.12. He has never been overly raced that time and his latest outing was only the 83rd run of his career with 17 of them resulting in victory.
We wonder is he the oldest winner this year in Irish greyhound racing and are there any his age or older still plying their trade on the Irish circuit. Either way, it’s wonderful to see Bolt still enjoying what he does and no doubt he is being well rewarded at home. Congrats to all involved.
