The greyhound racing community was saddened to learn of the recent passing of Jackie Langan, Urney, Co. Tyrone.
A highly respected and popular figure throughout the North-West, Jackie was a familiar face at Lifford Greyhound Stadium, where he served as a track steward for over two decades. A passionate supporter of the sport, he was a regular patron at his local track and also enjoyed success at the end of the lead, sending out numerous winners, many of whom raced under the ‘Tonpat’ prefix.
Beyond greyhound racing, Jackie had a lifelong association with the GAA and was a devoted member of his local club in Urney. His commitment to the community and sporting life of the area is a legacy that continues through his children and grandchildren. Jackie will be fondly remembered by all who knew him and his presence will be greatly missed throughout the wider local community.

The death took place June 13th 2026 of Jackie Langan, 17 New Street, Clady.
Beloved husband of the late Philomena, much loved father of Bridget, Anthony, Una, Vincent and the late Martin and Mary and brother of Carine, Barney, Frances, Magdalene and the late Fergil, Margaret, Rosie, Jimmy, Paddy, Tony, Annie and Dorrie.
Reposing at his home on Sunday (June 14th) from 12 noon.
Funeral leaving his home on Tuesday (June 16th) at 11.15a.m. for
Requiem Mass in St Columba’s Church, Doneyloop at 12 noon.
Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Deeply regretted by his sorrowing sons, daughters, brother, sisters, grandchildren,
great grandchildren and family circle.
Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
