JOSIE MCKENNA

It’s with great sadness we must report the passing of Josie McKenna, a member of the most famous family in Irish greyhound racing. Josie was entrenched in greyhound racing for most of her life as the wife of the late great Ger McKenna, while her sons John, Ger and Owen have also forged their own path in the sport. 

Known and loved by so many, she will be remembered fondly by all that were lucky enough to spend time in her company. We would like to take this opportunity to offer our sincerest condolences to her family, her sons John, Ger and Owen, her sisters Mary and Bernadette, brothers John, Kevin, Martin, Bendan, Eamon and Aidan, her beloved grandchildren, in-laws, extended family and many friends. May she Rest In Peace.

November 5th 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Ger and her parents Maureen and Jack Loughnane. Josie will be sadly missed by her sons John, Ger & Owen, her sisters Mary (Dunne) & Bernadette (Kilcoyne), brothers John, Kevin, Martin, Brendan, Eamon & Aidan, adored grandchildren Kevin, Iuli, Kate, Ciarán, Aliyah & Freya, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Main Street, Borrisokane Thursday 6th November from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Friday morning to SS Peter & Paul’s Church, Borrisokane arriving at 10:45am for funeral mass at 11am, burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

House private Friday morning please.
