The final of the 1XBET Tour Series A2/A3 525 serves as the highlight on tonight’s Lifford card and Drveen Lass can continue her excellent record in finals at the Northwest venue by landing the €1,250-to-the-winner decider.
Owned by Jim Joe McGrath, Drveen Lass landed a novice competition at Lifford in December 2024 before following up with another fine performance in the final of the Northwest Greyhound Supplies 525, clocking 28.93 in victory. Since then, the daughter of Burgess Bucks – Moss Avenue has gone from strength to strength and, if producing her best, she will be very difficult to oppose. Drveen Lass showed signs of a return to top form last weekend when beaten just a length and a half in 28.89 and she looks particularly well housed in trap two tonight. With a clear passage to the opening bend looking likely, she can bounce back to winning ways and record a thirteenth career success for connections.
That said, she can ill-afford any mistakes with Pharis Syd and Divil The Hayte lurking on her outside. The former set the standard in last weekend’s semi-finals when romping to victory in 28.77 and Conall Doherty’s charge is likely to be prominent in the betting on the strength of that display. The son of Deerjet Sydney proved a class above his rivals on that occasion, although whether he can reproduce his sensational 2.50 sectional remains to be seen. He is undoubtedly a major player, but cannot afford to allow Drveen Lass to lead him on the run-up.
Meanwhile, Divil The Hayte is running out of his skin at present and he too is expected to play a major role for Eddie Hurson and Ben McQuaid. Drawn in trap five, he was asked plenty of questions by Drveen Lass last weekend but answered them well to prevail in 28.89. Consistency at traprise remains key for the son of Ballymac Best and another slick exit will be required if he is to confirm that form. Of the remainder, Hollywell Diva, Hallies Cashout and Kiskeam Alice may require a little luck in running. However, there is little separating the field on the clock and none can be completely discounted from making the frame.
