TENYEARSHUTTERIN DOMINANT IN JUNE UNRACED

TENYEARSHUTTERIN DOMINANT IN JUNE UNRACED

Ian Fortune

Monday’s feature at Enniscorthy was the final of the June Unraced and Declan Beary and Orlaigh McCarthy would have been delighted with the display of their promising youngster, Tenyearshutterin as he produced a tremendous front running effort to land the €1,250 winner’s purse.

Bonnie Any and Tenyearshutterin were sent off the 6-4 joint favourites but, ultimately, this was won at trap rise with the latter shooting from trap three to dominate from the outset. The question of whether Bonnie Amy would move off the fence in the early yards was quickly answered as she moved straight right, albeit behind Tenyearshutterin.

She also moved off the opening turn, finding traffic, leaving the pace-setter further clear. Mystical Sydney badly missed the start but was afforded room to improve around the opening corner and he slipped into second spot along the fence.

Tenyearshutterin was clear, however. Over five lengths to the good at halfway, the son of Vic Vega and Ontheredcarpet never looked like letting his lead slip. Mystical Sydney did charge into the third turn to close the gap but Tenyearshutterin was merciless and stayed on right to the line to score by four lengths in a fast 28.83. There was a further five and a half length gap to the staying on Totilas in third. Should the winner continue going to the corner as he did on this occasion, he will win many more races before his career is out and who’s to say he can’t develop into a very talented tracker.
