MORE QUALITY EXPECTED IN CARROLL MEMORIAL

Ian Fortune

The Paddy & Eamon Carroll Memorial got underway at Dundalk last weekend and already many of those that took part in the opening round can say goodbye to A3 company. There were a number of superb opening round displays and fate has thrown four of the winners together in a red-hot third heat.

GAME IS UP

Up The Game set the standard with a rapid 28.53 return but he will be tested by Rolo Bucks, Armagh Daithi and Wanofthemwans. Rolo Bucks represents last year’s winning handler, Francie Murray and he is clearly very talented. If coming away racing from trap four, he is sure to make a bold bid.

Up The Game is drawn on his inside in two, however, and that could make the difference. He shot from traps to make all last week and a similar return could see him follow up.

ATLANTA LOOKS THE PART

Monleek Atlanta looks the part in Heat 1 from a kind draw on the fence. He ran on strongly to win in 28.69 last week and seems certain to arrive late and fast yet again. Of his rivals, Debidee Regina and Loskeran Liberty can offer most resistance.

PISTCAHIO CAN POP

Francie Murray will have a big hand in Heat 2 with both Rolo Pistachio and New Alliance expected to make a bold bid. Of the pair, New Alliance went fastest in the opening round when posting 28.86 behind Up The Game.

With a slick exit, he could make a bold bid. Rolo Pistachio actually came home in front in his heat and looks open to much improvement. From a kind draw in two, she is chosen to come home in front. Of the remainder, Manalishi Reb, who displayed fine early speed in his opening round defeat, is another entitled to respect.

PAVILION TO FIRE

Pavilion Fire may have suffered defeat in the opening round but he looks the part in the final heat if repeating anything close to his brilliant best. The Fair Warrior champion is perfectly housed in stripes and is chosen to come home in front of Arrigle Beauty and Annas Rosie.
