NEMO BACK AT THE SCENE OF GREATEST TRIUMPH

Ian Fortune

Gaytime Nemo will return to Towcester for the first time since capturing the 2023 Star Sports/ TRC English Derby on Sunday afternoon when taking his place in a Derby Trial Stakes.

The Graham Holland trained star will take on his compatriot Hawkfield Blue in Division 1 of the trial stakes.

Of course, Gaytime Nemo has been very lightly raced since his greatest triumph but a 28.19 trial around Limerick at the weekend highlighted his well-being.

Other Graham Holland trained runners taking their chance in the Derby Trial Stakes on Sunday include Newinn Port and Swords Fudge. The card also features the semi-finals of the KAB Maiden Derby with five Irish trained runners hoping to progress to the decider.

Sadly, the most that can make the final is four given the fact that there are three Irish trained runners in the final heat with only two to qualify. Graham Holland’s Garfiney Blake has a favourable draw on the fence in the opening heat, Jaytee Craze has the same draw for Paul Hennessy in the second heat, while Jaytee Etienne, Hawkfield Abbie and Romeo Steel all represent these shores in Heat 3.

The Paul Hennessy trained Jaytee Etienne lines out in trap two, Ginger McGee’s Hawkfield Abie lines out in the white of three with Romeo Steel in five for Graham Holland.
