NO SURPRISE TO SEE CHARLIE AND DIAMOND AT THE TOP

Ian Fortune

Not since 2009 has a greyhound won more races than Tuono Charlie did in 2024. For sixth months, the sensational son of Good News and Farronrory Bonny was untouchable, winning sixteen races in succession, capturing many top prizes including the Corn Cuchulainn in the process.

Of course, before winning sixteen on a row, he had also won three open class races in a row in February and early March. In fact, his only defeat between February and September came on March 9th. His 2024 tally of 19 wins is the biggest since Compass Cowboy won 22 in 2009.

It is far from a shock to see Bockos Diamond second on the list. He only raced 17 times through 2024, winning 16 of them, including a sequence of 15 straight wins. He was a sensational Derby winner and will continue his pursuit of Peruvian Style’s record of 20 straight wins in Ireland when he returns in the spring.

Ascot Logan was third on 15 wins, while Fifis Baby, Slaneyside Hanks and Dark Note all ended on 14 wins. It’s worth pointing out that seventh spot went to Road Exile on 13 wins. Of course, he finished third in the list in 2023 with 14 wins. What a win machine and consistent performer he continues to be.
