PLENTY OF CLASSY SORTS IN ACTION IN THE LEE STRAND

Barry Drake

The opening round of the Lee Strand produced some wonderful racing last week and we can expect plenty more top-class performances in tonight's second round.

Unanimouspanther, trained by Pat Buckley for owner Ciaran O'Sullivan, set the standard in the opening round heats and exciting young talent can record back-to-back victories in heat number five. A magnificent 29.47 winner last time, the selection displayed plenty of early speed and another front-running winning performance is on the cards.

In the following heat, Deadly Choice is another that should follow up on last week's win. Trained by Michael O'Donovan for Garry Hannon, the powerful running tracker clocked 29.59 in winning and he showed massive all-round speed. With any luck in running, he should prove too strong.

In other heats, Dark Scooby lands a narrow vote in the second heat for Jamie Lilley. The September puppy caught my eye in the opening round and he looks an improving sort. With a decent start, he should go very well.

Liam Dowling's Ballymac Kinga, a 29.80 winner in the opening round, is just preferred over the Pat Buckley-trained Coolavanny Percy in heat number. Both look nice types, however, the Ballymac runner might just shade it early on and that could be the winning of the race.
