QUALITY FARE ON OFFER AT KILKENNY

Ian Fortune

Kilkenny are set to welcome another good crowd this evening with the action on the track likely to provide some fine performances.

There’ a superb €4,700 on offer to the winner of the TIME Greyhound Nutrition A3 525 and the five opening round heats make up half the card.

MAX LOOKS THE PART

Fun Time Max is one of the more interesting competitors.

The son of Dromana Bucko is under the care of Michael O’Donovan and has shown enough in his short career to suggest he can go fast. He is returning after a layoff but ran well in top company in the Champion Open Unraced at Kilkenny earlier in the year. He is chosen to come out on top in Heat 2 with All About Craic seen as the main threat.

PAYOUT TO STRIKE

Paul Hennessy and John Boyle have an interesting competitor in Early Payout.

A sprint winner in 18.54 around Shelbourne Park, the son of Ballymac Cashout is perfectly housed in the stripes and looks the part if putting his best foot forward. Th well-bred Willkies Dream is an obvious danger.

REMAINING HEATS

Droopys Nerd just gets the nod in Heat 3.

A lightly raced sort, he can step up on previous form to lead home a number of other inexperienced, but promising, types.

Picking a likely winner of Heat 4 is no easy task. Slight preference is for Deadly Ace. Should he repeat his best form, he can claim a third career success.

Lemon Good defends an unbeaten record in the final heat. Given her age and profile, she is more than capable of completing a quick hat trick. Of the remainder, Bricken Sober and San Diego can perhaps offer the most resistance.

PROMISING NEWCOMERS ON SHOW

Racing commences with three Unraced contests, but particular attention should be paid to races 2 and 3, the semi-finals of the KGOBA Open Unraced.

Both contests are packed with well-bred youngsters and it would be no shock to see a couple of potential stars emerge.
