QUICK SCORES AND DEPLOY PROCEEDS AT NEWCASTLE

The Robert Gleeson trained duo of Droopys Deploy and Toolmaker Quick were in the draw for the second round of the Arena Racing Company Northern Puppy Derby after both overcame bad traffic in their respective opening round assignments to qualify.

Droopys Deploy was in a particularly messy contest but found himself a distant third into the back straight before making up eye-catching ground to finish second. He was eventually beaten just a length by Greenwell Crazy in 29.20.

Toolmaker Quick actually won his heat, riding a hefty bump on the corner to lead the field into the back straight. He would race into a commanding advantage before emerging a ready seven length winner over Nothing Mad in 28.87.

Incidentally, the fastest heat winner was the Brendan Matthews bred Deliveroo who posted 28.53 in the final heat for Tom Heilbron. Unfortunately, Toolmaker Quick and Droopys Deploy have been drawn in the same semi-final where they will be joined by the talented duo of Ballymac Axel and the aforementioned fastest opening round winner Deliveroo.
