The 2024 TIME Greyhound Nutrition Select Stakes got off to a flying start in Kilcohan Park on Saturday night.

A fantastic third in the final of the Easter Cup last weekend, Droopys Fidget went quickest on the clock when posting 28.36 in the second heat. Trained by Robert Gleeson for Paul Allen and John Gilson, the 4-1 winner produced a flying start along the inside of the track. Trinity Junior made it a fantastic battle throughout, however, the winner just had that bit more in the closing yards. Two and a half lengths the margin at the line, with two lengths back to Ballymac Finn in third place.

BRILLIANT WINNER

In the opening heat, Ballymac Walt ran out a brilliant winner when clocking 28.39 for Liam Dowling.

Mustang Sally flew into the opening corners in front and the early leader was setting a strong early pace. The Ballymac runner turned second and he powered down the back straight, in front between the final corners, the 2-1 winner pulled away for a three-length success. A Lucky Julie caught the eye in third, a length behind the runner-up.

MASSIVE BACK STRAIGHT SPEED

In the third and final heat, Jacktavern Bolt came home in front to win for trainer Graham Holland and owners the Pillar Syndicate.

Only fourth turning into the back straight, the 6-4 joint favourite displayed massive speed to storm past Another Holiday and Ballymun Boy and then hit the front from the early leader which was Avongate Venus. Staying on well up front, Jacktavern Bolt ran out a three-length winner over Ballymun Boy, in 28.73. Another Holiday was third, a length behind the runner-up.
