SHAKA AND LAMBO STAR AT SHELBOURNE

Ian Fortune

A couple of fine runs lit up proceedings at Shelbourne Park on Friday night.

Both Shaka Laka and Arrow Lambo were mighty impressive as they took the two feature races on the card.

Shaka Laka was a hot favourite to follow up her mighty impressive semi-final display in the TOTE Betting A2 525 and she duly obliged in style. Tamara Butler’s supremely well bred daughter of King Sheeran and Maries Wedding was simply too good for her rival. Going to the front in the opening yards, she quickly put the result beyond any doubt.

Rains Phia gave chase from the start but could never land a blow. Instead, Shaka Laka powered right away to eventually cross the line eight lengths clear of Rains Phai in 28.37.

LAMBO POWERS CLEAR

Arrow Lambo lived up to his name in the final of the Go Greyhound Racing S0/S1 350, darting from trap three and moving with real purpose throughout to emerge a good winner for Andrew Lawlor.

Returned a 10-1 chance, the son of King Sheeran and Annual Review certainly didn’t run like the outsider of the field. Miss Louisiana was his nearest pursuer throughout and challenged into the turn but Arrow Lambo drove the bend before easing right away to win by four lengths in a quick 18.71.
