On a day when Karol Ramsbottom will make his way to Cork for the final of the Laurels decider with a live contender, he can take heart from the fact that his string seems to be firing on all cylinders.
This was certainly evident at Kilkenny on Friday night as he sent out all three heats winners in the valuable TIME Greyhound Nutrition A3 525.
Willkies Dream was expected to get the ball rolling for Ramsbottom in the opening heat, only to fluff his lines and finish at the tail of the field. Instead, his kennel companion Bricken Sober did what was necessary.
The comments on the race suggest he broke fastest and made all with a clear passage but this isn’t exactly the case. Indeed, the son of Sober Glory and Sober Pearl actually walked from boxes and had to force his way between rivals into the bend to strike the front just as they began to turn left.
It was a determined and decisive move from the Bally-Three Syndicate owned puppy as he would go on to make every yard thereafter. He crossed the line three and a half lengths clear of Triangle Apollo in 29.38.
CRAIC MAKES IT TWO
All About Craic followed up for Ramsbottom in the second heat, racing prominently throughout to eventually come home a length and a half clear.
Flamin Cashless was in front early and led the field into the home straight but Shane and Willie Rigney’s All About Craic was too strong with the son of Dromana Bucko and Coolavanny Kitty staying on well to stop the clock in 29.41.
ACE COMPLETES THE HAT TRICK
Garry Hannon’s Deadly Ace completed the Karol Ramsbottom hat trick in Heat 3, turning close to the pace before passing Seaview Deise before halfway.
Once going to the front, the son of Signet Ace and My Little Ivy drew away before holding the staying on Lemon Gogo by three lengths in 29.34.
JOSH HAS THE UNRACED ANSWERS
Brendan O’Shea’s Crossfield Josh won the final of the KGOBA Open Unraced, making the most of an inside draw to emerge comfortable scorer.
This race cut up somewhat with the two semi-final winners withdrawn, but Crossfield Josh could only beat what was put in front of him.
The son of Ballymac Cashout and Crossfield Feena came away on terms but quickly challenged for the early lead with his litter brother Crossfield Omar. Going on at the turn, Crossfield Josh quickly ran clear to put his rivals to the sword. Maintaining a strong gallop throughout, he went on to beat At Large by five lengths in 29.13.
