SWORDS REX FLEXES MUSCLES AT TOWCESTER

Ian Fortune

The brilliant Swords Rex, who was beaten hot favourite in last year’s English Derby, had his first public spin since the Winter Racing Festival when trialling over the sprint trip at Towcester on Sunday afternoon.

The former Kirby Memorial and Easter Cup winner moved well as he clocked 15.70 to blow away some cobwebs. It was great to see the brilliant black on track and hopefully he can perform as well this year as last.

Graham Holland also trialled Faypoint Sean. He posted 29.23 for the 500m trip off a 4.17 sectional, while recent Kirby Memorial finalist Romeo Kingpin clocked 29.33 off a rapid 3.94.
