SYD SCORCHES AROUND DUNDALK AHEAD OF SPRINT CUP DEADLINE

Broadstrand Syd is clearly a greyhound with stunning early speed. A finalist in both the Champion Open Unraced at Kilkenny and the David Fitzgibbon Memorial at Curraheen Park, he has already earned a reputation as one of the fastest in training and its clear connections are eyeing up a Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Cup challenge.

The Johnny Linehan trained star had a trial at Dundalk on Saturday night and posted a simply stunning 20.84 in his first look at the Dowdallshill circuit. That came off the back of a 7.20 sectional, suggesting there is even better to come. That doesn’t bode well for his likely challengers in the sprint classic.

Incidentally, owners and trainers are reminded that entries for the Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Cup will close on Monday, July 15th at 5pm. If you have a suitable runner, don’t hesitate to contact the racing office.
