TALENTED FLARE ONLY UK ENTRY TO DATE FOR WRF

Ian Fortune

Sean Parker toyed with the idea of running his brilliant stayer Droopy Flare on Derby final night at Shelbourne Park. He ultimately decided against it as she ran in the final of the Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger at Nottingham only days earlier.

Clearly, he thinks she will be suited by Shelbourne Park as she has been entered for the Winter Racing Festival on November 22nd. One of the very best in the UK, she was a close second to Mongys Wild in the aforementioned St Leger and subsequently lowered the colours of another top stayer Vhagar in the final of the Premier Greyhound Racing Super Stayers Trophy at Dunstall Park.

A litter sister to Shelbourne Park 525yd track record holder Droopys Kathleen, Droopys Flare has long been a star over six bends and will certainly be a welcome addition to the Festival. Blessed with tremendous pace and an abundance of stamina, she will be far from an also ran.

Special authority has already been confirmed for the daughter of Droopys Sydney so it’s all systems go. Incidentally, as we speak, she is the only confirmed runner from the UK but there is still time. The card for the second night of the festival will be put together on Tuesday, November 18th meaning special authority should be sought before Monday, November 17th. For those wishing to trial at Shelbourne Park, applications for special authority should be put forward before Friday, November 14th.

It would be wonderful to see more UK runners on the night. Of course, Proper Heiress was a Derby finalist at Shelbourne and, after making an unlucky exit from the Gold Collar at the weekend, he would be more than welcome back in Dublin. Hopefully there will be more expressions of interest from across the Irish Sea in the coming days.
