TRACK RECORD HOLDER DASHING TORO SET FOR RACE OF CHAMPIONS SUCCESS

Barry Drake

Dashing Toro, the new Track Record Holder and a recent winner of the Lee Strand, is selected to land tonight's feature in the Kingdom, the €15,000 to the winner Callaway Pro Am @ Stud Race of Champions. The selection, an August youngster, has delivered plenty of sensational performances in recent weeks and the powerful performer powered to a 29.20 success last week. It was a huge performance especially when you consider he was well up in class.

Undoubtedly, he's one of the most exciting young greyhounds in the country and very much the one to beat tonight. The sole-seeded runner should enjoy plenty of racing room out wide and if producing a half-decent start, he should take plenty of beating for owners the Twice-A-Day-Everyday-Syndicate.

Pat Buckley's Ower Cracker is next best for me. He was another to impress last week, clocking 29.57. He can lead his inside runners and if producing a flying start, a big run would be expected. Of the others, High Trend, the Laurels Champion, will need to bounce back to his best, but he can't be ruled out for trainer Graham Holland.

Hogan Stand had caught the eye down in Kilkenny a couple of weeks ago and the July youngster clocked a superb 28.35 last week. Trained by James O'Regan for Joe McCarthy and Frank Neylon, the improving youngster should prove too good in the final of the Johnny Carroll Memorial A2 stake.
