It’s with great sadness we must report the passing of a true doggy man, Art McRory.
Whilst many will remember Art for his managerial and playing career with Tyrone football teams over several decades, the Northern greyhound fraternity will remember Art for his love of, and achievements on, both track and field. Art was introduced to greyhounds in his youth as his father Harry was an ICC steward and later manager of Oaks Park track in Dungannon. With his brother Jim, he had many top-class trackers running under his "Run On" prefix around Dungannon, Lifford, Drumbo and Dundalk, enjoying plenty of success at each of the tracks. Art was also Chairman of Dungannon and District CC. While he and Jim had stepped away from the track in recent years, he still shared coursing dogs with his great friend Paddy Barker. Art was a great negotiator and secured the community gallop so valued by local owners and trainers. Art is pre-deceased by his wife Helen, who passed in February, but we would like to send on our sincerest condolences to his children Colm, Ciaran and Eva, adored grandchildren and brothers and sisters Jim, Sean, Jetta, Frank and Shiela.
Art's funeral mass will be on Friday at 1 00 in St Patrick's Dungannon with internment afterwards in Donaghmore cemetery.
