DRINKS ON BONNER IN ENNISCORTHY’S PUBLIC HOUSE

After improving with each and every run through the €2,500 Public House Open Unraced at Enniscorthy, Edermine Bonner claimed the valuable prize on Monday night with some fancy footwork and a real desire to win.

Owned by Thomas and Patrick O’Gorman, the son of Cushie Jet and Edermine Cooper was only third into the turn and seemed to be in a precarious position on the outside of the pace-setting duo of Ballybreen Luna and One Yayalady.

Just behind Edermine Bonner were Donishallharry and Jaytee Etienne, meaning he had little room to maneouvre but some real trickery on the bend saw him seize control. With Ballybreen Luna staying to the middle of the track, forcing One Yayalady wide, there was the narrowest of gaps to dive into.

And that’s exactly what Edermine Bonner did. Without missing a beat, Edermine Bonner altered his path, shooting to the front between the bends. It was to be a race-winning move. Jaytee Etienne slipped around in second but had work to do.

Edermine Bonner entered the back straight with a couple of lengths in hand and maintained his advantage to the third turn. Jaytee Etienne began to bridge the gap turning for home but it was all too late. Edermine Bonner emerged a tremendous winner by three parts of a length in a quick 29.03.

Donishallharry ran on strongly to take third, some two lengths further adrift.
