DROOPYS HIGH BAR DELIVERS HIGH CLASS PERFORMANCE IN CORK

Barry Drake

DROOPYS HIGH BAR, trained by Johnny Linehan for owners the Boys-Are-Back-In-Town-Syndicate, went quickest on the clock in Curraheen Park on Saturday night as the classy youngster made it four straight wins and in the process, the in-form tracker has now won five of his seven career starts.

It looked like a red-hot event on paper but the impressive winner showed plenty of early speed and he flew around the opening turns in prime position.  It got tight for racing room in behind, but Droopys High Bar showed a huge injection of speed when hitting the back straight and the one up front quickly pulled clear. Clocking a top class 15:90 to the third corner, it was all one-way traffic up front and Droopys High Bar galloped strongly to the line, coming home four lengths clear of Verratti, in a top class, 28.10.

ALL ABOUT BALLYMAC
It was all about Ballymac Reymie in the final of the €1,000 Pat O'Keeffe and CPSC A6 stake.

The 6-4 joint favourite has shown much-improved form in recent outings and this was a fantastic effort from the January puppy who is trained by Paul Dowdeswell and the Sunoak Syndicate. Just making the corner in front, Ballymac Reymie was always in control and he pulled right away for a wide-margin success, in 28.65.

IN OTHER RACES
Two races later, in the final of the €1,000 Rosstemple Boarding Kennels Ballineen & CPSC A4 Stake, it was Firespin who delivered a fine front running display for Dan Harrington. Winning the all-important early lead, Firespin was later joined and briefly headed by favourite Corrough Ridly, however, Firespin wasn't for denying, showing great determination to get back up and land the spoils, by half a length, in a career-best of 28.95.
Out of luck in the opening round of the Irish Derby, Ballydague Bella made the most of the drop in class to win the A1 575 for trainer Tom O'Neill and owners the Dusty-Notes-Synidcate. The 2-1 winner displayed plenty of all-round speed as she beat recent winner Bartlemy Sham, by two and a half lengths, in 31.41.
