GLIDEAWAY PICKS THE RIGHT TIME TO GET LOOSE

There is no need for proof to acknowledge that Music Glideaway has come forward through the Derby but the fact that he led to the third turn for the first time in the year’s classic at the weekend is evidence of the fact.
Not only did he set the pace but he also set the standard with a 17.06 third bend return before going on to win in comfortable fashion in a fast 29.32.
The Other Kobe also set the pace in the other semi-final, the third time in the competition he has been in front at that point of the contest. After a sizzling 16.88 in the quarter finals, he posted 17.09 on his way to a semi-final victory.
It means that five of the six Derby finalists have led to the third turn at least once through the competition. The one exception is Threesixfive. Of the six finalists, The Other Kobe’s 16.88 quarter final return is the fastest on show.
Music Glideaway is next fastest (17.06), while Bockos Crystal is just behind with her opening round 17.09 return. Well Met failed to set the pace for the first time in this year’s competition at the weekend. His fastest third bend clock came in the third round when posting 17.12. Bens Teddy surprised a few by leading to the third turn in the second round when recording 17.24.
Given how competitive the final is, it will be interesting to see which greyhound gets on the bunny and just how fast they will go.
