HAPPY BIRTHDAY ENNISCORTHY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ENNISCORTHY

Ian Fortune

After being on the brink of closure in the recent past, Enniscorthy Track has come back from near extinction to be a thriving venue once again and tonight’s meeting at the south eastern venue is a very special one as Enniscorthy celebrates 90 years of racing.

There is a wonderful nine-race card in the offing and the stands should be packed as those connected to the venue celebrate a wonderful milestone. Those that follow Enniscorthy on their various social channels will see the work and pride that goes into the place and everyone involved in the track should stand up and be proud.

The schedule for tonight’s celebrations as listed on Enniscorthy’s Facebook page reads, Gates open at 6.30. Deirdre Masterson will open the evening with the national anthem at 7.30pm followed by a few words from the chairman of the track, Paddy Kavanagh.

A wonderful card commences at 8pm. As has become accustomed on big nights at the track there will be a Golden greyhound hunt for the children, while there will be music in the bar by Joe Hogan after racing.

The advice is clear, come early, stay late and enjoy what should be a tremendous occasion at Enniscorthy. Here’s to making a few new memories in the coming years. Well done to all at Enniscorthy and have a great night.
