NELL TO COME TO FORE IN WHEATLEY MEMORIAL

Ian Fortune

Mylerstown Nell may be fast approaching her fourth birthday but the daughter of Ballymac Anton continues to perform like a youngster and she is set to claim a valuable prize this evening when starting favourite to win the Eamon Wheatley Memorial A4/A5 525 at Newbridge.

She boasts the top two runs in the stake with a 29.08 return in the opening round and a 29.00 return in last weekend’s semi-finals. She may have suffered a second round defeat but ran well and is best equipped to emerge on top this evening.

Of her rivals, Florida Major and Home Darragh are set to give her most to think about in the early yards but she has the inside line on the duo. Instead, a greater threat could potentially emerge from Snazzy Cinnamon. A big finisher with a kind draw on the fence, she seems likely to arrive late and fast.

It may not be enough to pick up Mylerstown Nell, however. Tony and Donal Coyle’s bitch is chosen to get loose into the bend before going on to make every yard.
