A number of Irish were given a spin at Towcester on Wednesday with John Kennedy’s Epic Ace going joint fastest.
He posted a moderate 4.09 sectional but made up the time to join Underground Gold on the clock, posting 29.10 on a track conservatively rated .30 slow.
The Paul Young trained Underground Gold is one of the co-favourites for English Derby glory with sponsors Star Sports after a stunning start to his career. He was last seen emerging a sensational winner of the Monmore Puppy Derby and the son of Callaway Pro Am really seems to have everything at his disposal.
Brendan Matthews trialled four greyhounds with Shudacudawouda going fastest as he posted 29.13 off a 4.01 sectional. Unassuming recorded 29.36 (4.20), Ello Ello (4.10) and Down Tothe Wire (4.24).
Meanwhile, there are a number of Irish confirmed for Sunday’s Derby Trial Stakes. The Graham Holland trained Donishall Sam is set to race from four in the 2.54pm contest and Holland’s Garfiney Warrior and the Paul Hennessy trained Lennies Dynamic are set to meet in the 3.13pm.
There are three Irish in the 3.32pm contest with Graham Holland’s Gaytime Joachim, Pat Buckley’s Unanimous Leo and Paul Hennessy’s Priceless Romeo clashing. The Pat Buckley trained Grouchos Jack, Graham Holland’s Faypoint Harvey and Paul Hennessy’s Lennies Eddie meet in the 4.09pm.
The Graham Holland trained Gaytime Clyde and Paul Hennessy’s Tote Gold Cup winner Coloursaregreen take each other on in the 4.28pm race.
