AMAZING POWER LANDS THE A4 DEISE DERBY AT KILCOHAN PARK

AMAZING POWER (Signet Ace-Deelish Oreo) made it four straight wins in the final of the €5,000 to the winner W.G.O.B.A A4 Guys & Dolls Deise Derby at Kilcohan Park on Saturday night.

Michael Meade's runner was sent off the 2-5 favourite, and despite getting the start wrong, he still had all the gears to overcome it. He didn't produce one of his usual quick starts from trap two, but he still managed to turn in third behind both Moonveen Tess and Fagans Bianco.

The winner looked in trouble when still in third at halfway; however, he kept finding that bit more in the closing stages. Now, in truth, his cause was aided when Fagans clipped the front-running Moonveen Tess between the final corners; however, the winner was just hitting top gear at that stage. The star of the event over the last couple of weeks, Amazing Power clocked 29.28, half a length clear of the running-on Rockmount Nico.

The opening round of the 1xBet Munster Oaks also got underway. In the opening heat, Magical Be Nifty (2) (Droopys Jet-Magical Poppy) came home in front for Donal and Patrick Guilfoyle. Fresh from Galway Oaks success, the 1-2 favourite drove a fantastic opening corner to lead, and from here, the outcome was never in any doubt. A fine performance, clocking 28.39, six lengths clear of Glengar Blitz.

In the second heat, Knocknadoguestar (3) (Ballymac Cashout-Flaminhasntabob) came out on top for the Dont Know Syndicate. The 2-1 winner displayed a nice turn of early pace from trap three, and she slipped around the opening turns in front. Showing plenty of foot up front, she was always doing enough, and in the end, the impressive winner had two lengths to spare over Carrigoon Bria, in 28.70.

Long Siesta (3) (Grangeview Ten-Ballymac Tam) was another to cut out all the running in the third and final heat. The 5-4 second favourite, for John and Brian Doyle, came away racing and the exciting prospect went on to make it three wins from just three career outings. Improving with each run, the bright prospect stayed on well up front, clocking 28.55. Six lengths back to Droopys Crispy in second place.
