BEANOS QUICKEST IN SELECT STAKES, EXPLOSIVE EARLY FROM LUKA

The €10,000 to winner Droopys Stud Select Stakes got off to a flying start at Kilcohan Park on Saturday night.

In the opening heat, Magical Luka (King Sheeran-Magical Mary) clocked incredible early sectionals of 3.09 and 15.52 to pull at least eight lengths clear of Shanahee Boomer down the back straight.

The impressive winner has sensational early speed and that’s now 13 wins from 14 career outings. Patrick Guilfoyle’s runner was coming back to the field in the closing stages, but he still had two lengths to spare over Shanahee Boomer, in 28.36.

Four lengths back to West Coast Cool in third. Luka, favourite for outright glory, was sent off at odds of 2-5 from trap three.

Trained by Graham Holland for the Pups and Pints Syndicate, Kilworth, Beanos Yank (Deerjet Sydney-Lemon Elsa), fifth in the Kirby final last week, bounced out in front from trap five and made all the running in great style.

The 6-4 shot pulled out all the stops to deny Bogger Bob, by half a length, in 28.26. Three quarters of a length clear of the fast finishing Magical On Fire.

In the third and final heat, Microchip (Droopys Sydney-Clona Skye) displayed great early speed to score for Mary Clarke. Such a consistent tracker in recent times, he chalked up another smart front running winning run.

Two lengths clear of Slick Sabre, in 28.47. A length and a half back to Callaway Five in third.
